I am an author of children’s picture books and contemporary middle grade and YA novels. I taught middle school kids for many years, including working with special needs students. I was one of ten U.S. educators to receive the 2020 Johns Hopkins Innovation in the Classroom award. My experience and insight as a teacher are the subject of the American Writing Awards book finalist, Head of the Class: The Art of Teaching Outside the Lines. I am also the author of the multi-award winning children’s picture book, Willow the Skunk Gets Schooled: On Why it’s Good to Be Different. When I’m not writing, I enjoy traveling, racket sports, and skiing. But my greatest pleasure is hanging out at home with my wife, two sons, and five cats.
