Personal Engagements
I would be thrilled to come to your school, library, or bookstore for a fun and interactive author visit with your middle-grade readers. The event would be tailored to your community's needs, and typically includes a short reading from my book, as well as a hands-on workshop. Below are a few workshop ideas:
Story Sparks: kids invent stories using random objects and surprise prompts.
Character Creation: young writers develop a main character(s) for a story.
Story Blocks: writers build a story using my LEGO building analogy.
Behind the Book: a Q&A about how my story went from a seed of an idea to finished book.
I spent nearly twenty-five years as a middle school English teacher, working with kids aged ten to fourteen. I have always been inspired by the imagination and creativity of young people, and would love the opportunity to work with you and your middle-grade readers.
